MIXED FORTUNES FOR TEAM LJM

With the first round of the Hydraulink Southern Thunder Sprintcar Series done and run the team will now focus all their attention on the up and coming WA Sprintcar Championship at the Kwinana Motorplex on November 28th.

The super fast Manjimup clayway pulled some surprises last Saturday night, but was not as fast as the series final in March earlier this year. The night started well in the time trials with The Missile taking 6th and Brad taking 7th, with not much being in the difference between them.

In the heats Jamie was almost best afield taking a second placing behind Luch Monte in heat 1 and winning his following heat while Brad ran 7th in both heats. While the youngster missed out on the Dashes, Jamie found himself in the A Dash with a great start blasting into second place until an amber light saw the field have to re-run. This time it made it harder as the track was not allowing passing and he had to settle for fourth.

The A Main only had one stoppage on the first lap when Adyme Harvey ran towards the wall. On the re-start both cars held the positions where they started for the whole event, with both drivers finishing in 6th and 9th places.

The series points tally sees Jamie in 5th place on 143 points while Brad sits in 9th on 106. With both Kendrick race team cars heading east on racing commitments there this will leave the series wide open as The Missile is only 12 points off the series lead of Ben Ellement on 155 points.

Jamie is keen to race again at the Motorplex after winning the A Main there on November 7th.

“ We just want to qualify strong and race hard. A little bit of luck is always good, but, another win would be nice.” When asked about racing against younger brother Bradley, he was impressed at how his season had gone so far. “ He did really well last meet at Kwinana, so no doubt he’ll give it his best for the team.”
