Big Weekend for LJM Racing:
Release 28/12/2010 - BCM
For LJM Racing team members Jamie & Brad Maiolo this past weekend’s racing at Bunbury City Speedway & The Perth Motorplex can be ticked off as a successful weekend overall for the team.
Jamie Maiolo in the #99 APB/Ausquip/Maxwill/J&J is continuing to roll out the good results, his form in 2010 has been very good and probably should have made the podium each & every round so far, he currently stands in 4th position in the 2010/2011 AHG SEG Sprintcar championship series but again after this weekend’s racing at Bunbury & Motorplex Jamie suffered mechanical woes preventing him from being much higher in the points.
Jamie’s race at Bunbury Speedway on Boxing night was cut short with motor troubles, even up to that point he wasn’t getting a handle on the car and the same was said at the Motorplex xmas cup race as well, The #99 machine had a better night at the plex he timed in 9th position & had a pair of seconds in his heat races giving him a 9th starting position in the a main, but as he has done all year when jamie has started back in the field he has shown great maturity heading towards the pointy end of the field by the time the green flag drops, jamie was successful in finishing in second position for the Perth Motorplex Xmas cup, he had this to say to Jason Crowe at post race presentations “Well if I thought I would be in this position at the beginning of the night, I would have taken it, again we had to do it the hard way coming from the 5th row, we couldn’t get a handle on the car all nigh as the track was tight, but as we got going the car began to free up a lot and became easier to drive, I would like to thank all the boys for their efforts and our sponsors”
For Bradley Maiolo in the #77 APB/Maxwill J&J his weekend was a different one of sorts, the Bunbury Show was impressive to watch, Brad is showing he is more than capable to run with these guys each & every week and sometimes even being the quickest out on the race track, the race at Bunbury would have Brad start from 9th & finish 9th consolidating a decent night at the venue, one he would have hoped was a better result, but at the same time glad to be able to push the car into the trailer for night 2 of the Xmas swing.
Perth motorplex for Brad Maiolo was again another impressive drive if it wasn’t for a incident that was out of his control, Brad got the worst part of the track in time trials & timed in 20th position and giving himself a full night of hard work, his heat results were a 3rd & a 1st giving Brad a 12th starting spot for the A main. That race was subject to 4 restarts before the race even got under way & Brad was a victim of an accident that involved the 35 & the 12 car going on their sides & the #77 of Brad Maiolo had nowhere to go & was left on the infield for the rest of the night. He was approached by the infield commentator & was asked what happens and as we know Brad he is not a man of many words he simply said “I had nowhere to go”.
LJM Racing will now go back to the workshop in Myalup & prepare for the upcoming Sprintcar Muster at the Perth Motorplex on January 2nd.
