Maiolo Back On Top Of The Ahg Sprintcar Series Pointscore Finishing third in the Sprintcar Muster at the Perth Motorplex on January 2 has seen Jamie Maiolo regain the number one spot on the AHG Sprintcar Series points tally. Maiolo, a six times AHG Series titlist, followed Ben Ellement and Ryan Farrell across the line in the eighth round of the season long contest at the Kwinana venue in front of a very healthy and enthusiastic crowd. The 25-lap main event saw Kerry Madsen in command from the outset. Madsen, the lead driver for the successful Kendrick 92.9 Racing Team, looked like scoring another fine victory until he shredded his left rear tyre only two laps from the flag. Ellement went by Maiolo for second place early in the contest with Jason Kendrick, winner of the last two events, moving up to third spot. However Kendrick went out after 17 laps and the demise of Madsen saw Ellement in control for the last couple of laps. Ellement, who earlier had won both of his heat races in brilliant fashion, went on to score his sixth AHG Sprintcar Series victory - and his third at the Perth Motorplex. On the same program, the 360 Sprintcar Power Series feature race was dominated by 410 regulars. Ryan Farrell, who took over the driving chores of the #3 car from owner Brian Hall for the final, raced from position 20 on the grid for the win ahead of Victorian Matthew Reed (position 8), Trent Pigdon (17) and Robert Watson Jr (2). Round #9 of the AHG Sprintcar Series will take place on January 21 at the Perth Motorplex. Following that meeting local drivers will contest rounds of the World Series Sprintcars competition at Kalgoorlie, Albany, Manjimup, Bunbury and the Perth Motorplex.
